Q: Before I visit a worship service I need to be sure there will be
childcare for my infant. Does ACC have this available during worship and
for other functions?
A: We provide a nursery during worship. For some other functions,
childcare is provided. To check availability, contact the church office.
Q: We have heard good things about the ACC Sunday School. Can our children
start in the middle of the year? Can we review the Sunday School curriculum
ahead of time to see if it would be satisfactory for our children?
A: New Sunday School students are welcome at any time and there will be no
problem for your child to enter in the middle of the program. Our Coordinator of
Children's Christian Education will be pleased to review the material for your child's
class with you at any time. Please call Merrill Noble to arrange a meeting.
Q: We will be attending a worship service for the first time, when should
we bring our children to Sunday School?
A:
8:45 AM Worship Service
Children who are in Preschool - Grade 8 attend for the first 5-10 minutes and are typically dismissed to Sunday school just after a Children's Blessing. Infants and children up to age 3 may be brought to the Nursery prior to the start of the service. The Nursery Caregiver is available approximately 10-15 minutes prior to the service. On the first Sunday of the month, children in all grades go directly to their “Homerooms” when they arrive at church. Grades 1-8 join their families in the sanctuary just prior to the start of the Communion Service. Parents and children should consult the Sunday school schedule which is posted each Sunday at the Nashoba Valley Children’s Center and Adams Canopy entrances.
10:45 AM Worship Service
Sunday School is not offered at the 10:45 AM Worship Service. Preschool and Kindergarten age children are invited to stay in the Nursery during the Worship Service. Children in 1st - through 8th grade should remain in worship with their parents.
Children of all ages are welcome to remain in the Sanctuary with their families, although most do eventually choose to go to Sunday school. Youth 9th grade and older worship in the Sanctuary. During Summer Worship, child care is available for children up to 4 years old in our Nursery.
Q: I am hard of hearing. Will I be able to hear during the worship service?
A: ACC uses a sound system in the sanctuary during the worship service.
There are also individual receiver devices for people who would like
additional hearing assistance. Just ask one of the ushers when you arrive
for worship.
Q: The parking lot is sometimes full. Is there extra parking available?
A: YES. Parking is available behind the town center fire station and behind
the Acton town hall/library.
Q: I work on Sundays. Does ACC offer worship opportunities at other
times during the week?
A: ACC has Faith Sharing, Bible Study and Prayer Groups that meet during the week. Please see the Christian Education tab for the many opportunities offered. During Lent, we gather on Wednesday evenings for a simple soup and bread supper, followed by Bible study.
Q: How do I become a member?
A: Interested folks are asked to attend a class (one Wednesday evening, one after Sunday Service and meeting with one of the ministers), held periodically throughout the year, in which they learn about the Church, faith, membership at ACC, and explore their involvement with us. If they wish to become a member following the class, they are welcomed on a New Member Sunday.
In the Spring and Fall, there is also a Meet-the Ministers Coffee to welcome new folks and allow them to address questions to the ministers. Please contact the
Coordinator of Fellowship and Volunteer Resources to learn more.
Q: I have some personal problems and feel I would like to speak in confidence
with a pastor. Can ACC help me?
A: By all means. Please call the office and ask to speak to one of the Ministers
about your personal concerns. They will be pleased to speak with you privately.
Q: Can you refer me to appropriate services or support agencies for other
kinds of help?
A: Our local United Way sponsors a free service called 2-1-1 for non-emergency help or information. Dial 2-1-1, a free call in the local area, or visit www.mass211.org or e-mail info@mass211.org. This is a resource for finding government benefits and services, non-profit organizations, support groups, volunteer opportunities, donation programs, crisis response, official information, and other local services.
