Acton Congregational Church has an outstanding music ministry. We are home to two adult vocal choirs, a handbell choir, and a children's choir; in addition, we have an active music program that is part of our Sunday School program. Our music program is designed to enhance worship by providing opportunities for our congregation to discover, develop, and share their musical gifts, both as individuals and in choirs. As you will discover, music is an integral part of our worship at all services.
Our choirs rehearse and perform from September through June. In July and August, we welcome vocalists and instrumentalists from the congregation, who provide a variety of music for our worship services.
Our Organ
The tracker pipe organ was built in 1888 by J.H. & C.S. Odell for the
Holy Cross Academy in Manhattan. It was removed and stored in 1973 when
that building was torn down. We purchased the organ in 1977. It was
remodeled and the case expanded to house three new pedal ranks in 1986;
the pipes were stenciled to match the Victorian case in 1999.
