Mission trips for both junior high and senior high youth
began here in 1997. These trips have grown in popularity and impact, and
now give the youth of our church and community an opportunity to get hands-on
experience serving as Jesus would and to whom He would seek out.
We serve through two youth mission agencies,
Center for Student Missions,
and
YouthWorks!. These
trips give the youth both urban and rural mission experiences.
Recent trips included:
- A family mission trip with children aged 12-18 serving in
Washingon DC during April Spring break.
- One week in Montreal with 40 youth and six adult advisors in July
followed by 3 days at a lodge on a lake in New Hampshire.
- One week in Lynn, MA, with 15 youth and three adult advisors in August.
Each fall a multi-media
presentation of the year's mission trips is presented to the entire congregation.
These trips touch both the youth and adults in profound and life-changing ways.
Service projects are also done throughout the year, including:
- Project Pumpkin where we carve Jack-O-Lanterns and distribute
them to seniors in the community.
- Helping at Lazarus House
- a transitional shelter in nearby Lawrence.
- Christmas Craft deliveries to senior members of our congregation.
