No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here.

What to Expect When You Visit Us

Attending a new church can be scary or intimidating, but whoever you are, wherever you are on life's journey, you are welcome here!  ACC welcomes anyone who seeks to love and serve God and who seeks a faith community to share their spiritual journey.

You have two services listed during the school year. Are they different?

During the school year, our 9:15 service is a larger service with church school, choirs, and children's messages. The second service at 11:15 is a quieter service with a smaller crowd. We feature specialized music in that service and there is not formal collection taken.

Before I visit a worship service I need to be sure there will be childcare for my infant. Does ACC have this available during worship and for other functions?

We provide a nursery during worship. For some other functions, childcare is provided. To check availability, contact the church office.

What should I wear to the service?

People dress in a variety of ways from casual to suit jackets. We expect people to come dressed comfortably. In the summer, we are much more casual.

Will there be a collection?

There is a voluntary offering taken in the service. The donations collected go to fund the ministries of ACC. Checks may be made out to Acton Congregational Church. You can also give online. Information about that is in our weekly bulletin.

The parking lot is sometimes full. Is there extra parking available?

YES. Parking is available behind the town center fire station and behind the Acton town hall/library.

We have heard good things about the ACC Sunday School. Can our children start in the middle of the year? Can we review the Sunday School curriculum ahead of time to see if it would be satisfactory for our children?

New Sunday School students are welcome at any time and there will be no problem for your child to enter in the middle of the program. Our Coordinator of Children's Christian Education will be pleased to review the material for your child's class with you at any time. Please contact the office to arrange a meeting.

We will be attending a worship service for the first time, when should we bring our children to Sunday School?

Children who are in Kindergarten - Grade 8 attend worship for the first 5-10 minutes and are typically dismissed to go to Sunday School just after a Children's Moment. Younger children can be brought to their Sunday School room prior to the start of the service. The teachers are generally available approximately 10 minutes prior to the service starting. (Children of all ages are welcome to remain in the Sanctuary with their families, although most do eventually choose to go to Sunday School). Youth 9th grade and older worship in the Sanctuary. During Summer Worship, care is available for children up to 3 years old in our Nursery. A Sunday School class is available for children ages 3 through 6 who come to the Sanctuary for the first few minutes of the service and are then dismissed. Older children remain in worship with their parents.

I am hard of hearing. Will I be able to hear during the worship service?

ACC uses a sound system in the sanctuary during the worship service. There are also individual receiver devices for people who would like additional hearing assistance. Just ask one of the ushers when you arrive for worship.

Are you accessible and what services do you offer for people with disabilities?

We are handicapped accessible. We currently do not offer sign language. We have two reclining chairs for those who need to recline.
