Family Ministries

"Let the little children come to me."

Matthew 19:14

Our Family Ministry strives to create a safe, affirming place for all children to explore what it means to live as Christians and do God’s work in the world. Children are invited to think, play, imagine, discuss, question, serve, and create as they grow in their knowledge of Christ and confidence in themselves.

Our Family Ministries program encompasses all children from birth to age twelve and their families. We provide opportunities for Christian Education, children’s fellowship, and intergenerational faith relationship building. Family Ministries is primarily focused on our weekly Sunday School classes during the school year, but we also help organize several annual events such as Rally Sunday, Trunk-Or-Treat, Advent wreath-making, and the Christmas Eve Family Service.

Sunday School

Welcome!

Whether you're just stopping by or searching for a new home church, your children are welcome in Sunday School. Our Sunday School program strives to include a wide range of lesson styles and topics to engage the children in new and different ways each week. We do our best to incorporate games, movement, teamwork, storytelling, songs, crafts, service projects, discussion, and personal reflection in our lessons - though, not all at once!

Our lesson topics fall into three broad categories:

  • Bible Stories - Examples: What does the Bible say? Who are the characters we should know? What are their stories? Why do they matter?
  • Practical Knowledge - Examples: How do you navigate a Bible? Why are there so many different Bibles? How is our church run? What are the parts of our church calendar?
  • Big Ideas - Examples: Who is God? What does it mean to love your neighbor? How do the Ten Commandments guide our modern lives? How do we pray?

Children attending Sunday School may sit with their grown-ups in the pews until the Children's Message, after which they will leave to go to class. Sunday School children may be picked up in the fellowship hall after worship, or at the youth patio if class was held outdoors.

Sunday School classes are led by our Director of Family Ministries and trained adult volunteers from our congregation who have passed a background check.
