Join us for a poignant and soul-stirring combination concert and worship service on Good Friday at Acton Congregational Church. Experience a Service of music, prayer, and reflection as we present the timeless masterpiece, Fauré’s Requiem (Op. 48), in its entirety.

Featuring a full performance of Fauré's Requiem, spanning seven movements and lasting 35 minutes, this powerful work will be brought to life by our Senior Choir and esteemed soloists. Our own Rachel Gerhard, acclaimed soprano, will grace us with her lovely voice, while the rich baritone tones of Vaughn Nesmith will deeply resonate with the listeners.

In addition to our talented ensemble, we are honored to welcome guest singers from South Acton Congregational Church, Nashoba Valley Chorale, Worcester Chorus, and Cantilena Women's Ensemble, enriching the depth and beauty of this musical journey.

Fauré himself said, "Everything I managed to entertain by way of religious illusion I put into my Requiem, which moreover is dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest." He further described it as not “written for anything – for pleasure, if I may call it that! It has been said that my Requiem does not express the fear of death, and someone has called it a lullaby of death. But it is thus that I see death: as a happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above, rather than as a painful experience.” Join us as we delve into this exquisite composition, embracing the themes of deliverance and aspiration towards a higher joy.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience the transcendent power of Fauré's Requiem in a sacred setting.

Join us for an evening of reverence, reflection, and musical splendor on Good Friday.
