A Place of Grace
The Christmas season with its promises of happy family gatherings, gift giving, perfectly decorated trees, and merry songs that tell us this is the most wonderful time of the year can be a difficult period for those who are experiencing loss, depression, hardships, and grief.
Acknowledging that this season of lights can cast a shadow of sadness over people who are not able to feel joyful, we will gather on Wednesday, December 20th, at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary to place our true feelings and emotions before God and search for comfort and healing in God's presence.
This service, which has been traditionally known as Blue Christmas or the Longest Night service, is often held on or around the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere.
In this gathering, we create a space of grace where candle-lighting, healing prayers, scripture reading, and sacred music allow us to acknowledge God’s presence for all of us who mourn, all of us who struggle, and all of us who experience darkness during the year-end holidays.
All are welcome at this sacred service!
