An Urgent Appeal by Rev. Karen for Those Experiencing Food Insecurity

There is an interruption in SNAP benefits, that began on November 1st, creating an urgent need in our community. While state officials are working to address the situation in the short term, many Acton residents are facing immediate food insecurity.
I have been in contact with the Acton Food Pantry to understand how we can best support our neighbors during this time.
They report:
A significant increase in residents seeking food assistance
An influx of food donations, though their storage capacity is limited and food may go to waste
Monetary donations are their greatest need – their purchasing power through wholesale suppliers allows them to provide far more assistance per dollar than individual grocery purchases
I am asking that members of ACC consider making a special monetary donation to the Acton Food Pantry through a special offering this Sunday. This is an opportunity to meet a critical need in our community during this emergency.
Our community members need our help now. Thank you for your generosity and compassion,
Rev. Karen Hodges
